Obituary of Zollie Fowler
MARION, VIRGINIA: ZOLLIE PERKINS FOWLER, age 91, died Sunday November 14, 2010 at Smyth County Community Hospital.
She was born in Grayson County on October 2, 1919 and had lived in Smyth County since 1933. She became a member of the Falling Water Baptist Church in 1953, was a member of Marion Garden Club for many years and worked in Health Care for several years. She was a member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary at Smyth County Community Hospital and had received an award from the District Three Annual Service Awards. Zollie was a correspondent for the Smyth County News and had written news articles from the communities of Laurel Springs for 10 years, Attoway and Currin Valley for over 54 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Jackson Fowler, Sr.; three sons, Ronald Mack Fowler, Paul Jackson Fowler, Jr. and Richard Lee Fowler; five brothers, three sisters and one great grandson.
She is survived by two sons and three daughters-in-law, Charlie Jack and Pat Russell Fowler, Joseph David and Marsha M. Fowler and Edna King Fowler, all of Marion, Virginia; one sister, Trixie Winters of Marion, Virginia; one brother, Robert Hale Perkins of Nesquehoning, Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Falling Water Baptist Church with Pastor Jerry Creasy and Reverend Neville Mozingo officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Marion, Virginia. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
