Auntie Carolyn, I'm so sorry to hear about Auntie Ila's passing. I only met her last summer, but I loved her immediately. She was a remarkable woman, lovely, strong and a joy to be around. I'm honored to have known her, if even for such a short time. I found this poem online, I hope that it brings you comfort. My Aunt I thought I saw her face today In the sparkle of the morning sun. And then I heard the angel say ?Her work on earth is done.? I thought I heard her voice today Then laugh her hearty laugh. And then I heard the angel say ?There?s peace little one at last.? I thought I felt her touch today In the breeze that rustled by. And then I heard the angel say ?The spirit never dies.? I thought that she had left me For the stars so far above. And then I heard the angel say ?She left you with her love.? I thought that I would miss her And never find my way. And then I heard the angel say ?She?s with you every day.? --Megan Stokes

Carolyn, I appreciated Ila's sweet personality whenever we were together when I lived in Marion. I hope you are comforted by the fact that God is with us through losses of loved ones; it is never easy but with His help we make it and come out better able to love others who have similar trials. Love in Jesus, Ann

To Ila's family: I'm so saddened by her passing. I bowled with her for a season on the Housewives League and she was a great friend to my mom, Carol. Many memories of her and mom as avid bowlers. I met Ila years ago, but became close to her when I started league bowling. Hard to believe that she passed so quickly, but is probally a blessing...she was surely ready. Prayers go out to Carolyn and Annette...May God bless you and hold you in his arms during this time and always after that. Goodbye, Ila...you will surely be missed, but you have made it to a wonderful new life. Thank you for being such a great friend to my mother!

My journey with Ila began some 61 years ago when we were in 3rd grade at Atkins School. Over the years, we were in 4-H club, played high school basketball, graduated from high school, in Adwolfe Homemakers, together. I moved away around 1969, so we wouldn't see each other very often. Ila came to our 25th wedding anniversary party. I came when her Mom and later her Dad died...she was with me when my parents died. I moved back to Marion in 1996.. we saw each other much more. We worked on MHS/joint class reunions together, went to both Atkins School and Marion High School "Lunchbunch" gatherings. There was such a difference in Ila from the time I saw her this past Sunday until my visit on Monday...she had lost so much ground. My life is forever changed but I would not take anything for the memories. To Ila's family...I pray that you will be given comfort to get you through this time and the days ahead. I am so sorry. Love, Janice

I was very sad to hear that Ila had move on to a better place. She was one of the last of our gang who hang around together when we were young. She was a wonderful, loving, and very caring person. She will be missed.
