Dearest Doris, My heart goes out to you every day as you are learning to cope with this loss. Richard's words and actions illustrated his belief in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He truly lived what he believed. Now these words and actions live on in our memories of him. May God bless you and give you strength. Love and prayers,

Doris, I am so sorry that I didn't get to know Richard better. I know that Your Uncle Robert thought highly of him! I loved his store and the story's that I was just starting to hear about. You were a wonderful wife, and anyone could tell that he loved you so and you the same. Richard is having a wonderful time now, so don't worry, you will see him again! Love You. Nancy

On warm days during the baseball season Richard would sit on the store porch reading the baseball news.I would pass by with my dogs and kid him about the Boston Braves since that was his team. If my team, Yankees, were ahead I would ask him what is the problem with the Braves? Ofcourse he had agood reason and told me in detail.

Doris, We had every intention of making it out for the funeral this morning, but Jacob was called into work due to call outs from the snow. He had to take our only vehicle capable of going in the snow. The funeral is probably still in progress right now. My thoughts & prayers are with you during this extremely difficult time! Again, I am so sorry we couldn't be there in person! Richard's long battle is over & now he's in Heaven with his Jesus! I'm sure you take great comfort in those thoughts! We will see him again someday!

I didn't know Richard very long but in the time that I knew him I enjoyed talking and visiting with him. He was so cheerful every time I visited and always had a positive attitude. My favorite memory of Richard is when he told me about a cake that his mom used to make for him. "A yellow cake with carmel frosting in the middle". His obvious enjoyment of this cake made me smile. I also loved the way Doris talked about Richard. She was so loving and you could tell they still had a special connection even after many years of marriage.

We just want to let you know how sad we are and concerned for you MS. Doris. I loved to talk to such a wise man when I got the chance to visit. We will miss his "Papaw" personality and the happiness we saw in both of you together. We will pray that God grants you comfort and peace. As I tell my Mom, we will be together again in the snap of a finger, according to Gods' clock and our faith. If snow allows I will try to get to the Church Friday. Judy's back is out and she is a maybe. Your Friend, The Jarnigans of Gray TN.

My Dad and I have shared many wonderful experiences with you and Richard. What a wonderful friend and help Richard has been to our Saddlebrook Family, from its early beginnings in the late 70's up to the present. I'm sure Richard and Daddy are already sitting up in Heaven together drinking coffee and discussing SFPOA as well as everything else. Let your many good memories help carry you through these next difficult days. May God give you solace when you need it most; may He carry you in His loving arms when your body is too tired to walk. Richard was a friend to all and we will all miss him, but what a wonderful day of rejoicing that will be when we all are reunited in Glory! My loving thoughts and prayers are with you now.
