I have known Bill for several years working with him at SCCH and through the ambulance service, he was always a kind and caring soul. I know that he will be missed by many. I pray that God will give you peace during this time.

Bill will be greatly missed. I work in the ER at SCCH and I got to see Bill alot and I enjoyed every time I got to see him. He was a great man and cared for everyone. I remember when my aunt had to go to Duke the minute I saw Bill I knew she was in good hands. Your family are in my thoughts and prayers and may God be with you.

I knew Bill from working with him at SCCH and also thru his work at Smyth County Ambulance Service. He transported me to Duke University. Bill was always kind and considerate. He will be greatly missed by family, friends and the community.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Georgia always said "to have a friend is to be a friend." Bill was a friend to many and a great assest to the people he served. He was compassionate and caring and took care of mnay Mom's, Dad's, sister's, and brother's for a lot of families. There are people who have jobs then there are people who have a calling to help others, his was a calling. Bill genuiely cared for his family and his community. I got to know Bill thru riding in the ambulance with him when he would take my mom (Reba Hutton) to Roanoke and back. You couldn't ask for a more caring, understanding and funny person. My thoughts and prayers are with the Tilson family.

Bessie, Jamie & Ashleigh I am so sorry for your loss. Bill was such a great guy, a very caring person. I have a lot of memories of the time I spent with you guys. I've known Bill since the 70's and used to play pinball with Jamie when he was just 4 years old while Bill bowled on the league. It saddens me to hear he is gone. I have known Bill all of my life.. I grew up on Dover Street in Marion and spent alot of time on Henry Street.JC and Bill used to share a ride down south to Shaw Air Force Base when they were in the Air Force in the Vietnam era and our paths crossed again as he would transport our Mothers in the ambulance. Bessie, I was so sorry to hear about Bill. I worked with Bill for years on night shift at SCCH. I loved working with Bill, he was in the ER to transport my dad (Bill Heath) to the helicopter the night before he passed away. He will be missed greatly.

I heard Bill sing one night, it was a gospel song that touched your heart. I went once to Roanoke with Bill on an emergency call a few years ago, He was wonderful considering circumstances.
