Obituary of Gregory Steele JR
MARION, VIRGINIA: GREGORY BEALE STEELE JR., age 51, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2007 at his home in Fort Worth, Texas.
Gregory was born on February 2, 1956 and was the fourth child of Gregory Beale Sr. and Anna Brown Steele in Marion, Virginia. Gregory was a graduate from Marion Senior High School where he received multiple letters in sportsmanship. He held first place in wrestling in the region for three years and second place in state. He was a graduate from Knoxville College where he played football, a member of the ROTC program and received his Bachelors Degree in Psychology. Upon graduation, he entered the Army as second lieutenant where he received rank as a Captain for 11 years. After leaving the army, he worked in numerous areas of security, and was active in scouting, Boy Scout Pack 398 Troup 487, Denver, Colorado. He was currently serving as the Training Manager of the Dallas-Fort Worth area and the region and head of patrol for Securitas Security where he held several licenses including bodyguard and private investigator. His expertise extended with the Red Cross, training in community first aid and safety, and CPR. His training belief was to keep it simple and make it fun, and the more you know the more you grow. His hobbies were photography, gun reloading, hunting, fishing, and bowling. He was very strong in his faith of his Lord and Savior.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his sister, Eva Louvenia, and his mother and father.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Karen Hunter Steele of Fort Worth, Texas; two sons, Gregory B. Steele III and wife, Jessica of Abilene, Texas, and Jeremy Steele of Fort Worth, Texas; one grandson, Gregory B. Steele IV of Abilene, Texas; one brother, Hurley A. Steele of Denver, Colorado; one sister, Barbara A. "Jenny" Steele of Marion, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and close friends also survive.
