Obituary of Elmer Rowland

MARION, VIRGINIA: ELMER CAREL ROWLAND, age 71, died Monday, August 6, 2007 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee. He was born August 4, 1936 in Yadkinville, North Carolina to the late Edgar and Lura Adams Rowland. He was preceded in death by one brother, Roger Dale Rowland. He was retired from Brunswick Corporation after many years of service. He was a member of Chilhowie Christian Church. He loved the great outdoors especially hunting and fishing with his friends. He was a friend to everyone, and loved his dogs, especially Sparky. He loved spending time at the lake on his boat with his grandchildren and family. Mr. Rowland is survived by his wife, Patty Walters Rowland of Marion, Virginia; two daughters, Brenda Rowland Bell and husband, Sam of Dublin, Virginia and Donna Rowland McCarty and husband, Jack of Marion, Virginia; one sister, Virginia Gibbs of Surgoinsville, Tennessee; one brother Edgar Darrell Rowland of Bristol, Virginia; four grandchildren, Samuel Kent Bell, Evan Walters Bell, Katherine Grace McCarty and Grayson Pate McCarty. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. at Chilhowie Christian Church, Chilhowie, Virginia with Rev. Frank Branson and Brother Tim Carlson officiating. Graveside Services will be held Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery, Chilhowie, Virginia. The Family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until the time of service at Chilhowie Christian Church.
