Obituary of Raymond Thomas
MARION, VIRGINIA: RAYMOND L. THOMAS, age 85, died Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at his home in Marion, Virginia. He was born in Grant, Grayson County, Virginia on January 20, 1922. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orrin and Vera Rhudy Thomas; and a brother, Edison Thomas. After service as an Army Air Corps Officer and pilot at the end of WWII, he began his career in Marion as a TV repairman and cable technician. After retirement he worked for the Brunswick Corporation, utilizing his electronics expertise. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Marion, Virginia. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Paxey "Pat" Hash Thomas; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Jim Thomas of Coal City, West Virginia, Lynn Thomas of Marion, Virginia, Don and Anna Beebe Thomas of Knoxville, Tennessee; two grandchildren, David Thomas and wife, Ashley of Knoxville, Tennessee and Emily Thomas Bull and husband, James of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 9, 2007 at Seaver-Brown Chapel at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Jeff Lambert officiating. Graveside services will be held Friday, August 10, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Grant Cemetery, Grant, Virginia. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 115 South Church Street, Marion, Virginia 24354 or the Marion Life Saving Crew, P.O. Box 784, Marion, Virginia 24354.
