Obituary of Robert Gailliot JR
FRESNO, CALIFORNIA: DR. ROBERT V. GAILLIOT, JR., died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at his home, surrounded by his children, friends, and family. He was 47 years old and lost a two year battle to cancer. Dr. Gailliot was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and grew up primarily in Marion, Virginia. He attended Georgetown Preparatory School in Rockville, Maryland, received a B.S. Degree in Chemistry from Emory and Henry College in Emory, Virginia, and his Medical Degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed Residency and Fellowship training in General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Hand Surgery, and served as Chief Resident during his General and Plastic Surgery tenures. Dr. Gailliot's local practice consisted of hand, general, and cosmetic plastic surgery. Dr. Gailliot's family would like to especially thank Hinds Hospice without whom Dr. Gailliot's peaceful passing would not have been possible. Dr. Gailliot's family would like to extend a special thank you to the many patients, medical colleagues and friends who have showered them with love and care during this difficult time. Dr. Gailliot is survived by his two children, Robert V. Gailliot, III, and Greta Joan Annette Gailliot, his former wife, Lisa Joan Crews and her husband, Brett Yeats. He is also survived by his mother, Annette W. Gailliot, and his three siblings, Elizabeth M. Gailliot, Ursula Gailliot Koeze, Christopher R. Gailliot, and eight nieces and nephews. Visitation was held at Farewell Funeral Service in Fresno, California, on Monday, July 16, 2007, followed by a Resurrection Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 17, 2007, and a reception at Copper River Country Club. A memorial service is planned in Virginia in the Fall, with a burial in the Virginia mountains in which he loved.
