I have many fond memories of seeing Charlie in action at the state hospital. I especially enjoyed when he used his "judge voice" to impress upon others the seriousness of matters at hand. And then there were the breakfasts at the Appletree Restaurant where an entirely different side of Charlie emerged. I am glad I had a chance to know him albeit briefly in the general scheme of things.

I am sad to hear of Charlie’s passing. I worked with him at the hospital for a number of years. I remember him talking about some of his experiences in Grayson county…always ready with a smile and a laugh. He will be missed. Praying for you all.

I truly loved this man! He was always kind and generous to me, and a friend when I truly needed one! After I moved from Smyth County, I didn't have much contact with Charlie, but his kindness and friendship will be missed.

Charlie and I used to eat breakfast at the old Appletree restaurant we would sit and talk about his dad being a old country dr .We knew each other from the state hospital when he was the judge there 3 days a week. We would swap stories about the old days when he was a judge down town he gave me my first fine .He was good friend to me always saying there comes public enemy number 1 my nickname he gave from a speeding ticket I once got. I am sorry to hear of his passing and will be praying for the family in these trying days to come Dennis Hall
