Obituary of Trenton Colter Burkett
RURAL RETREAT, Va.
TRENTON BURKETT age 22, passed away Tuesday, May 07, 2019.
Ask anyone, Trenton was not your typical young adult. He was the kind who followed the rules, obeyed the laws and had high aspirations for himself. Trenton was a 2015 graduate of Rural Retreat High School and a 2017 graduate of WCC Police Science Program. In December 2017, he was employed by the Marion Correctional Treatment Center where he graduated from the Department of Corrections BCO Program with honors, as the Platoon Leader having the highest GPA. Trenton was proud of his work, and truly enjoyed his job as a Correctional Officer. In his down time, he liked gaming, target shooting, attending gun shows and collecting mainly vintage firearms. Having played soccer in high school and being a Team Captain, he still enjoyed going to watch a good game. Trenton was loved and respected by many and will be missed tremendously.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Wallace Brown "Buddy" Burkett; and maternal grandfather, Roby Parks, Sr.
Trenton is survived by his mother, Debbi Burkett and husband, Ramie Thompson of Rural Retreat, Va.; father, Jeff Burkett and wife, Gissell of Atkins, Va.; brother, Colby Burkett of Rural Retreat, Va.; half-brother, Dylan Burkett; step-sister, Heather Prater; paternal grandmother, Juanita Burkett; maternal grandmother, Charlotte Parks, all of Atkins, Va.; nephew, Derek Burkett of Marion, Va.; best friends, Lucas Nester of Bland, Va. and Caleb Dalton of Rural Retreat, Va.; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor Mike Sage officiating. Graveside services will be held Sunday, May 12, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Attoway Cemetery with honors conducted by MCTC Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 5 p.m. until the time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
