Obituary of James "Jim" Cox

James "Jim" Cox, Jr., age 58, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Va.
If you were looking for a story – that would take forever to tell – Jim Cox was your man. He loved to pick on his friends, camp, fish, make people laugh or just give his opinion about whatever the topic was. A friend described the world as "a sadder place without Jim Cox", and for his family and friends, that is true.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Frances Cox; sister, Kim Cox; and father-in-law, Douglas Hylton.
Jim is survived by his love, Diann of Wytheville, Va.; step-sons, Kelly Meadows and wife, Jennifer of Eagle Rock, Va., and Chris Meadows and wife, Kristin of Bland, Va.; sister, Wynn Fair and husband, Mike of Jonesboro, Tenn.; brother, Tim Cox of Marion, Va.; grandsons, Hunter and Johnathon Meadows and step-grandson, Hunter Wilson; niece, Callee Cox; nephew, McCloud Cox; and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Blake Frazier officiating. Graveside services will be held Sunday, February 10, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Wassum Cemetery. Family are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:45 p.m. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
