Obituary of Frances Dickey Carroll

CHARLOTTE, N.C.

Frances Dickey Carroll, age 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Aldersgate Assisted Living in Charlotte, N.C.

Frances was a loving wife, mother, and grandma to her family and a friend to those she came in contact with. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Herman Carroll, Jr., a World War II Army Veteran who passed in 1995; her mother, Fannie James Hall Dickey; her father, Walter Highly Dickey; sister, Betty Dickey Stuart; and brother, Dr. Walter Hall Dickey.

Mrs. Carroll is survived by her twin sister, Kathryn Dickey Lawrence of Christiansburg, Va.; children, Suzanne Carroll Pace and husband, Nolan “Skip” of Charlotte, N.C., Sally Carroll Moorer and husband, Glenn of Marion, Va., John Carroll II and wife, Nancy of Vinton, Va.; grandchildren, Emily Pace O’Conner and husband, Brian of Knoxville, Tenn., Andrew Pace of Charlotte, N.C., Ginny Moorer Shields and husband, Ryan, and Matt Moorer and wife, Ashley, all of Marion, Va.; sister-in-law, Phyllis Shawn Dickey of Roanoke, Va.; nieces and nephews, Betty Lynn Lawrence Thompson, Larry Lawrence, Sandra Dickey Phillips, Diane Dickey Washenberger, Walter Dickey, Becky Dickey Austin, Randy Dickey, Phyllis Ann Dickey Norbo, Betty Jean Stuart Stout, Bobby Stuart, Sam Stuart, and Alex Stuart.
