Obituary of Joseph "Joe" E. Puckett

ABINGDON, Va.

Joseph E. "Joe" Puckett, age 64, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Va.

He was born April 10, 1953 in Beaumont, Texas to the late Hubert Estel and Margie Portie Puckett. Joe was a Chef for 45 years, serving in various universities and colleges, including Emory & Henry College, and private catering events. He loved ice sculpting and working with plants and flowers. Gardening was a joy for him. Over the years as a chef Joe has traveled all over the country and made numerous friends. Above it all, he was a loving husband, and friend to all who knew him. He will be missed.

Joe is survived by his wife, Barbara Y. Puckett of Abingdon, Va.; sister, Shirley Collins and husband, Wayne of Cabot, Ark., and Carolyn Caldwell of Utah; brothers, Archie Puckett and wife, Sue of Montgomery, Ala., and Ted Puckett of Salem, Va.; numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 19, 2018 at 4 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor Mike Kinzie officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Monday from 2 until 4 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
