Obituary of Shirley Guy Spencer

MARION, Va.

SHIRLEY GUY SPENCER, age 70, died Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Bristol Regional Medical Center.  

She was born in Marion, Va., December 4, 1946 to the late Marshall E. and Ruby Osborne Guy. Shirley loved God and demonstrated that love to her family, friends, and Marion First United Methodist Church family through much encouragement, support and her giving spirit. She retired after many years of service as a building official in the Smyth County Administrators Office.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Marcy Rosenbaum and husband, David; son, Cole Spencer and wife, Amanda; brother, Mike Guy and wife, Margaret, all of Marion, Va.; five grandchildren, Matthew and Allison Rosenbaum, Peyton and Garrett Spencer, and Payton Rose; two nephews, Jay and Jeff Guy.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery with the Reverend David Woody officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 115 South Church Street, Marion VA 24354.
