Obituary of Elizabeth Dutton Prater

MARION, Va.: Elizabeth “Libby” Dutton Prater, age 86, died Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at her home in Christiansburg, Va. She was born August 25, 1929 in Marion, Va. to the late Charles Porter and Geneva McKinnon Dutton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Leonard Prater; and sister, Mary Jo Dutton Phillippi. Libby is survived by her daughter, Sherri Box and husband, Mike of Christiansburg, Va.; grandson, Matthew Box and wife, Ashleigh of Charlotte, N.C.; great-granddaughters, Annsleigh Elizabeth Box and Elleigh Kate Box, both of Charlotte, N.C.; numerous nieces and nephews; Sherri’s chosen sister, Trish Neubauer; and special caregivers, Linda and Crystal. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Good Samaritan Hospice, Dr. Scott Jamison and Dr. Moises Cossio. As per Libby’s wishes, all services will be private.
