Obituary of Garnett Allison
MARION, Va.: GARNETT R. "BUDDY" ALLISON, age 90, died Friday, October 9, 2015 at his home in Marion, Va.
Mr. Allison was a proud World War II Veteran. He was an avid golfer and guitar player. Garnett loved to fly and upon returning home from World War II he started flying. The two ladies in his life did not share that love and were happiest with him on land. His final flight took him to the man upstairs and his Vada. He loved his Lord, his country, his family and his life. Garnett "Buddy" Allison will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vada Prater Allison; parents, Robert "Bob" and Margaret "Maggie" Allison; and seven sisters.
Mr. Allison is survived by his daughter, Penny Dixon of Marion, Va.; chosen child, Karen Dixon of Centreville, Va.; two brothers-in-law, John Trigg Worley of McCready's Gap, Va. and Richard H. Massengill of Four Oaks, N.C.; two sisters-in-law, Polly Prater of Marion, Va. and Libby Prater of Christiansburg, Va.; chosen grandchildren, Farrah Carrazana and Jennifer Yuhasz DeBow of Knoxville, Tn.; chosen great-granddaughter, Brianna Carrazana; special niece, Carolyn Gentry of Glade Spring, Va.; special nephew, Keevin Prater of Sugar Grove, Va.; several nieces and nephews; special true friend, Franklin Ramsey of Charlotte, N.C.; and his furry friend, Rudy.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Stephanie Porter-Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Mausoleum with Military Rites conducted by Francis Marion VFW Post #4667. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
