Obituary of William Hubble
MARION, VIRGINIA: WILLIAM (BILL) ROBERT HUBBLE, has joined his wife, Marguerite Kops Hubble in God's presence on June 15, 2015.
He is survived by a daughter, Deborah (Dee) Hubble Dolan, Powhatan, VA; sister, Eliza Hubble Severt, her husband James (Jim),Martinsville, VA and their two sons; Jim, of Georgetown, VA, and Lawrence, of Manhattan, NY; two first cousins; F. Staley Hester, Salem, VA and Henry H. Brant, Marion, VA; and a special companion, Autumn, his Llewelyn English Setter.
Bill was born January 2, 1928 in Marion, Va. His parents were Lora H. Hubble and L. Herman Hubble. He graduated from Marion High School, attended Virginia Polytechnical Institute (VPI), served in the U.S. Navy after World War II, and received his BA degree from Emory and Henry College. Bill was an active alumnus of the college, past Board of Trustees member, and supporter of the E&H football team. He proudly played in the 1950 & 1951 Tangerine Bowls. He retired from Hercules, Inc. with over 30 years of service in the Explosives Division, and ended his professional sales experience with Birmingham Steel Corporation. Bill's loyalty to family, friends, and his faith were steadfast.
Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00pm on Friday, June 19th at Seaver-Brown Funeral Home, 237 East Main Street, Marion, VA 24354. The Memorial service will be held 11:00am on Saturday, June 20th at First United Methodist Church, 115 S. Church Street, Marion, VA 24354. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall of the church. Private burial will be held in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Marion VA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Hubble-Kops-Severt Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 950, Emory & Henry College, Emory, VA 24327.
