Obituary of Bartley Simons
MARION, VIRGINIA: BARTLEY G. SIMONS, age 50 went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Sunday, March 8, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his family and friends in Marion, Virginia after a long and courageous battle with diabetes.
Bart was a very brave and courageous person with the biggest heart. He was a man with a contagious smile and a huge sense of humor. Bart was a pleasure to know and a bright spot in the day of anyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. The family would like to thank Bart's sister Cissy for the care and love she gave him for the last several years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Grey Boyles Simons.
Bart is survived by his father, Ernest Simons, Jr. and wife, Georgia; sisters, Phyllis "Cissy" Horn of Marion, Virginia, Desiree "Deedie" Blankenship of Mead, Oklahoma, Debbie Simons of Wytheville, Virginia, Gina Ogle and husband, Chris of Knoxville, Tennessee, Kim Bourne and husband, Ray of Pasadena, Texas, Judy Hale and husband, Troy of Houston, Texas and Kerry Webb and husband, Jack of Spring, Texas; brothers, Ernest W. Simons, III of Marion, Virginia, Chris Simons of Houston, Texas, Earnest Simons and wife, Marcie of Delaware, Wes Simmons and wife, Sandy of Houston, Texas and Kenneth Simons and wife, Rachel of Spring, Texas; special niece, Mandy Vanhoozer and husband, Will of Marion, Virginia; one very special buddy, his great-nephew, Tommy "Monkey Boy" Vanhoozer; best friend and caregiver, Audria Hicks; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor Bob Surber officiating. Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Rosewood Memorial Gardens, Rural Retreat, Virginia. The family will receive friends Tuesday, evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
