I just happened to see this obituary and was so shocked and so saddened to read that Bart has died. I had no idea or I certainly would have been at his services. He was one of my very favorite students. Always just a joy. I use to move about every 2 years and Bart helped me once which I was so happy about because moving is difficult and Bart was big enough to help with some of the bigger pieces. He carried one lamp and the rest of the time he just entertained me! I am so sorry about this and especially sorry that I missed his service. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and Bart will forever be in my heart!

"Out of the abundance of the Heart, the mouth speaks..."
No matter how educated, talented, rich, or cool you believe you are, how you treat others ultimately tells all....
Bart's heart was beautiful and out of it flowed laughter and Love. Bart really liked himself, he enjoyed who he was. He embraced his uniqueness. No pretense or facade. He greeted everyone the same. The janitor or the Doctor. He didn't judge others or condemn them, because judging someone doesn't define who they are. It defines who you are . He didn't compare himself to anyone!
He didn't need his life to be perfect. He just wanted to be happy surrounded by the people he loved. He taught me we can make ourselves miserable or make ourselves strong. And I agree. The amount of work is the same. It doesn't mean his illness never existed, it just means it didn't define him....
He knew more than he said and noticed more than you realize. He KNEW and understood that the key to happiness is letting each situation be what it is and not what you think it should be.
He was a rainbow in many peoples cloud... The world didn't make him hard, the pain didn't make him hate....
Perhaps the butterfly is proof. That you can go through a great deal of darkness and be amazingly beautiful.
People don't remember the things you say or do, but they always remember how you made them feel. Bart made people "feel good". He was one of a kind. People were happy to see him, happy to care for him.... happy to be in his presence.
In the blink of an eye, everything can change. So forgive often and love with all your heart. You may not have that chance again. Love the people God gave you, because He will want them back one day!
He was a light in our life and will be greatly missed!!!

I was so sorry to hear of Bart's passing. He was a wonderful, kind, polite gentleman. Always had a smile and a joke. He was loved and will always be missed.

I have good memories of Bart calling and asking to speak with Phyllis Horn. I knew his voice as soon as I answered the phone, I would say yes I will get her for you and I would always ask him if he was doing ok? Bart was loved and cared for by his sissy (Phyllis). He will be greatly missed but he is no longer suffering.
