Mr. Vicars was my shop teacher between 1972-1974. He taught me attention to detail and worked constantly to help us learn and develop in classes from drafting, woodworking and power mechanics. Those lessons have served me well throughout a career in the Army and as a high school JROTC instructor these past 8 years. I visited with him over the years whenever I returned home and I considered him a friend although he was always 'Mr. Vicars'. His teaching style and caring for the students will continue to be passed along by the many who were fortunate enough to be in his classes.

David, you and I spoke about the special friendship your and my dad experienced. I remember countless hunting and fishing stories they both told and lived. I am grateful for the friendship your father had with mine. Your father will sadly be missed. He attempted to teach me to weld in shop class and I think he only passed me to get out of his class. I remember all those days with a warm heart. As I noted earlier, now your dad and mine can continuously hunt and fish to their hearts content. Always DaveR

Speaking for "the Brown brothers" please accept our sincere condolences and know that Dave and family are in our thoughts and prayers. I had the pleasure of having Lloyd for Power Mechanics - he shaped my future for the better in many ways. His demeanor and authority always kept the class' attention and respect - and if you did happen to doze off he had a cymbal in his desk drawer that would snap you right back! I know he is tickled to now have his mental acuity restored but we will all miss him God Bless!

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time. Mr. Vicars taught many people the values of problem solving, creativity, and the "arts" of industry while learning by doing. He directly influenced my career and many others. I still use and teach these values he gave me and others so many years ago.

David, Donna and family, Harry and I send your family our prayers. Your father was a very great person, whom we cherished knowing. He was an outstanding teacher who taught more than Industrial Arts. He taught values and lived the values he taught. I enjoyed teaching with him at MSHS. We still have several woodworking items he surprised us with or helped Harry create. My memories include the many lunch-time talks we had. He loved talking about his family that he loved. I am sure he is happy to meet old friends and loved ones in heaven. God bless each of you and your family. Linda and Harry Dean
