Obituary of Cora Pipes

MARION, VIRGINIA: CORA MAE REEDY PIPES, age 90, died Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Charles County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, La Plata, Maryland. Cora was born September 14, 1924 to the late Annie Reedy. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred J. Pipes, Sr. and her brother James H. Reedy. She is survived by her daughter, Claudia Sue Garner and husband, Brent of Colonial Beach, Virginia; her son, Fred J. Pipes, Jr., and wife, Kathi of Saltville, Virginia; grandchildren, Brenda Garner Rowe and husband, Tim, Howard B. Garner, Jr., and wife, Tiffany, Allison R. Shawyer, Cheri D. Pipes, and Joseph M. Pipes; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 24, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Charles Shifflett officiating. Burial will follow in Thomas Cemetery, Marion, Virginia. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Pall bearers will be Hal Garner, Tim Rowe, Jason Rowe, Joey Moger, Fred Pipes, Jr. and Allison Shawyer. Honorary pall bearers will be Hal Braydin Garner, Daniel C. Shawyer, and Chayse A. Shawyer. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Charles County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center unit 200, at 10200 La Plata Road, La Plata, MD 20646 in her name.
