Obituary of Gordon Patton
MARION, VIRGINIA: GORDON L. PATTON, age 90 went to be with his Lord and precious wife September 14, 2014 from Francis Marion Manor. Born the eleventh child of the late, David A. and Melissa Jane Masters Patton.
He was a member of Cedar Bluff Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II having served in the 75th Army Division at the Battle of the Bulge. He was a lifetime member of the Francis Marion VFW Post #4667. He had over 30 years of service in the Marion Civitan Club. He was retired from Marion Correctional Treatment Center with 42 years of service. Gordon was a friend to everyone and loved to visit and talk about his country.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Romans Patton; daughter, Martha Ann Anderson and husband, Jack and their infant son Johnathon; son-in-law, Bobby Harris.
Mr. Patton is survived by two daughters, Sheila Rouse and husband Fred and Margaret Harris all of Marion, Virginia; one brother, Raymond Patton of Big Stone Gap, Virginia; four grandchildren, Donny Rouse, Stan Doyle, Matt Anderson and Tammy Rouse; seven great-grandchildren; two very special buddies, Clarissa and Alexis.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 6:00 p.m at Seaver-Brown Chapel, with Reverend Justin Hall officiating. Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery with Military Rites Conducted by Francis Marion VFW Post #4667. The family will receive friends at Seaver-Brown following the service.
