Obituary of Samuel Wagner
MARION, VIRGINIA: SAMUEL CREED "KOKIE" WAGNER, age 54, died Sunday, February 9, 2014 in Marion, Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Ellen Marshall Collins Wagner; one daughter, Margaret Fielding Wagner; two sons, Marshall Preston Wagner and Samuel Stuart Wagner, all of Marion; his mother, Ruby Phipps Wagner of Marion, Virginia; one sister, Sally Wagner Lamie and husband, Jack of Salem, Virginia; three brothers, Bill Wagner and wife, Cheryl of Chilhowie, Virginia, Letcher Wagner and wife, Eva of Marion, Virginia and Ben Wagner and wife, Tammy of Lumberton, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Lee "Buck" Wagner of Marion.
For more than twenty years, Kokie kept the children of Marion busy and active, either swimming or playing sports as the Director of the Marion Recreation Department. He was loved and respected by so many in the community. Kokie loved to fish and hunt. He loved all sports, watching and playing. Most important to Kokie was to enjoy his children and their teammates participate in sporting activities at Marion Senior High School. He was of the Christian Faith and attended Royal Oak Presbyterian Church and Highlands Fellowship in Marion, Virginia.
Kokie will be dearly missed by many friends, his family and especially his girlfriend since eighth grade and wife of twenty five years, Ellen.
Funeral Services for Kokie will be Sunday, February 16, 2014 at the Royal Oak Presbyterian Church in Marion at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Alan Gray, Reverend Mike Sage and Pastor Dave Cross officiating. The family will receive friends during a reception following the service inside the Royal Oak Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall with burial to follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Marion, Virginia.
