I know how tough this time is for you all but I also know that there have been many tough days over this last year. You wonder day to day how you'll make that next step in your life. It never gets easier but you live because you have to live. You get through because you know that he truly loved you beyond his ability to express. The old adage "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" has held true for me.
For me it still feels like it will kill me but my faith, my family and friends continue to pull me through day to day. Know that you have lots of people who still think of you all and think of Kokie with a smile and will continue to help pull you through.
Sincerely,
Sharon Buchanan

The time passes so quickly but I'm sure for all of you this year has been a very difficult time - you have never been far from our thoughts and always in our prayers - as you remember "Kokie and dad" - just know that he is still in a place that is better than here , he is still watching over you guys, Marshall, Sam and Margaret and the decisions you are making - he may not be here physically to advise you - but he left you with the knowledge to make good choices and a wonderful mom to fill in! Always know that we are here if you need anything at all - always a phone call away ! . . . . and rumors are floating around that maybe we will be seeing Sam on the football field again as a WASP and we look forward to that - BUT what ever you all choose - choose wisely - we love you guys !! God Bless and know that we are thinking of you !

Our thoughts & prayers are with you Ellen & all the family. Eric & I will miss chatting with Kokie when he made the many trips up on the hill to find a deer, or just out for a drive. My whole family loved Kokie. My brother Eddie Foster has worked with Kokie for 30+ years at the Rec Dept., Edna had Ellen in school, & remembers her taking the whole class to your house to see a pig, & being such a nice understanding teacher. Me working at MMS for a year. Most currently my grandkids being into sports. We will never forget him. You all will be in our prayers in the weeks to come.

Dearest Ellen, Margaret, Marshall, Samuel and family; I remember when "Kokie" and Ellen were a couple of young high school sweethearts. Kokie, a handsome blonde football star and Ellen, a beautiful blonde beauty queen. When they walked down the halls of Marion Junior High School everyone could see how much they were in love with each other. It could be seen in their eyes when they looked at each other. They were the couple everyone dreamed of being like. Their love endured the stresses of high school and college, jobs and family. They had a love that few of us ever find in our lifetime. God brought them together for His own reasons. One we know was to share with the world their three wonderful children Samuel, Marshall, and Margaret. And then their fairytale was complete. Now, after 40 years of life, love and happiness, God has decided Sam's work here on Earth is finished and it's time for him to join the rest of His Angels in Heaven. It's time for Sam to relax and watch from above as his family, friends, and loved ones continue on without him. Although the pain will remain in their hearts forever, they may rest assured they will be reunited in Heaven when God decides it's time to call them home. Please accept my deepest condolences!

To Ellen & Family I'm sorry to hear of Kokies passing. I always had great respect for Kokie for his work at the Rec Dept. He' touched so many young lives in such a positive way. I'll always be grateful to Kokie for his support the years I coached at Marion. Kokie was a great guy and will greatly missed by all who knew him. I do remember the one day Kokie told me and my son Cody to follow him to his house that he had something for us. We got to his house and goes in and comes out with two baseballs signed by Billy Wagner. That was Kokie at his best. He's was always doing something great for people. May God be with all of Kokies family during this time of loss and sorrow.

I have so many great memories of him from school, competing against and playing with him in sports from little league to high school, catching up at reunions and even running into him in Atlanta when your nephew Billy was pitching for the Astros and Braves.
