Obituary of Edith Phillips

MARION, VIRGINIA: EDITH R. PHILLIPS, age 88, widow of Eugene Richard Phillips, died Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol, Tennessee She was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church and was retired after 30 years of service from the Southwestern State Hospital. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Richardson; her parents, J. Marvin and Dora Crowder Roe; one sister, Dorothy R. Dolinger; and two brothers, Ernest G. Roe and Marvin R. Roe. Mrs. Phillips is survived by one daughter, Julie P. Kelly and husband, Jim of Marion, Virginia; three sons, Gary L. Phillips of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, Mike Phillips and wife Judy and her children, Julia and Jennifer of Marion, Virginia, and Dr. Richard E. Phillips, Jr. and wife, Dr. Marilyn Buckner of Atlanta, Georgia; one sister, Ruby R. Counts of Fort Bragg, North Carolina; one brother, William E. Roe of Chilhowie, Virginia; two granddaughters, Julie R.Turner and husband, Robbie of Waynesboro, Virginia and Dr. Jennifer Quesinberry and husband, Jimmy Morris of Marion, Virginia; one grandson, Robert T. Richardson, Jr. of Marion, Virginia; eight great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Brittany Stiefel, Zachary Morris, Adrian Cason, Victoria and Christian Turner, Bethany Richardson, and Todd; two special sisters-in-law, Margaret P. Roe of Marion, Virginia, and Ethel T. Roe of Chilhowie, Virginia; several special nieces, nephews, and many special friends and family also survive. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Lutheran Church with Reverend Andrew Bansemer officiating. Burial will follow in Middle Fork Cemetery, Seven Mile Ford, Virginia. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with a reception following from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at The Garden Party Marion, Virginia. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ebenezer Lutheran Church Luth Group, (Youth Ministry) P.O. Box 1799, Marion, Virginia 24354.
