Obituary of Edgar Johnson

ROANOKE, VIRGINIA: EDGAR E. JOHNSON, SR., age 88, died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at LewisGale Medical Center, Salem, Virginia. Mr. Johnson was a Veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army. Charter member of the Francis Marion VFW Post #4667. Edgar is survived by his wife, Opal Perkins Johnson of Roanoke, Virginia; two daughters, Beverly Day and husband Billy of Roanoke, Virginia and Judy Hemmis and husband Steve of Richmond, Virginia; one son, Edgar E. Johnson, Jr. of Fredericksburg, Virginia; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive; several nieces and nephews; a special caregiver Valerie White. He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Karen L. Johnson. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Kenny Price and Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted by Francis Marion VFW Post #4667.
