Obituary of Max Waak

MARION, VIRGINIA: MAX E. WAAK, age 74, died Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, Tennessee. He was a member of the Ebenezer Lutheran Church and an avid gardener. Max was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a life-time member of the Francis Marion V.F.W. Post #4667. He was a long-time member of the Marion Lifesaving crew and was retired from the Marion Post Office after over 40 years of service. Max was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Max is survived by his wife Judy Waak; one daughter, Jill Waak Pearcey and husband, David, all of Marion, Virginia; one son, Johnny Waak and wife, Michele of Knoxville, Tennessee; four sisters, Mary Lou Waak, Lois Cornett, Margaret Teaster all of Marion, Virginia, and Catherine Paul of Roanoke, Virginia; one brother, Kenneth Waak of Marion, Virginia; four grand-children, Hunter Pearcey, Megan Pearcey, Macy Waak and Taylor Waak; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held, Monday, February 4, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Marion, Virginia with Reverend Andrew Bansemer officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Columbarium with Military Rights conducted by Francis Marion V.F.W. Post #4667. The family will receive friends Monday, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Lutheran Church. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Micah's Backpack Fund, c/o Ebenezer Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 1799, Marion, VA 24354.
