To the family I am truly sorry for your lost. Jack was more to me then the average. I was wounded really bad in IRAQ, my girlfriend(who knew Jack for very long time) was also hurting bad when I came home. Before I met Jack I was receiving all kinds of gifts shinny and colorful. But jack gave me a really old looking eagle globe and anchor and that meant more to me then shinny or colorful gifts. I also can not forget my black EGA cane that he got for me. He was a wonderful spirt who's memory will live on forever, "Heros come and go but LEGENDS last forever" I will never forget you RIP JACK

I was a friend of Jack's from the VA rap group. I was always stuck by his depth of knowlege and wisdom and his compassion for people especially veterans. I spoke with him about 6 months ago and was planning to visit him this spring. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. I am glad that he got to spend his last days with his family. He will surely be missed by me and his many friends, especially veterans. You have my deepest sympathy. Jay Greenblatt

Skipper was quite a guy. Always enjoyed his story telling. I recall one time at a 2/9 reunion in Branson, he and I ended up in a small restaurant/bar that feature a blues singer accompanied by a trio. He got to talking to the lead and lo and behold they discussed all the blues singers and combos that they jointly knew. He was a man of many facets.

It is with deep sorrow to hear that the Captain is no longer with us in person. However, he will always be with us in memory. I met your father at the Silver Spring Vet Center over 20 years ago when he began to attend the weekly group sessions. He soon formed solid friendships with nearly all of the guys. The Captain was a very special man whom we all held in high regard. He and I last talked by phone about 6 months ago. I will miss him.

So sorry for your loss! I knew Jack for about ten years. I first met Jack when he working at Sewell's Hardware store. I recognized he was a Marine, and that we had something in common-veterans. We used to go to the Golden Corral in Frederick monthly for breakfast for a veteran meetup. While he was at Charlotte Hall I visited Jack several times, and took him to Home Depot- he loved to look at all the new tools! He was truly an accomplished individual. He did love his music-he came out to hear me play several times. Jack will be missed by all the lives he has touched. My prayers to your family. Hoo-rah!!! -Siincerely, Keith Jones U.S. Army

It was a privilege and an honor to know Cap'n Jack. An officer and a gentlemen bar none. Jack met many of us at the Vet Center in Silver Springs, Md when the Gulf War broke out. On Memorial Day weekend, our group always placed a wreath / flowers at the apex of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial with Jack leading the way. I offer my sincere condolences to his family. " Heaven holds a place for the faithful departed ". Semper Fi Skipper!. God bless. Michael ' Sonny ' Lowe Bravo 1/1, RVN..68 - 70 USMC

Dear Dewell Family, Please accept my deepest sympathy on the recent loss of your loved one. May the God of Comfort be with each of you during this difficult time. May you find comfort in these words, "Chirst did actually rise from the dead, and is the first of millions that will come back to life again someday." (1 Corinthians 15:20) While we wait on this promise to be fulfilled, I hope all your wonderful memories that was shared help sustain you in the days to come. Warm Christian Love.
