Obituary of Lillian Parker
MARION, VIRGINIA: LILLIAN OWENS PARKER, age 86, widow of John H. Parker, died Sunday, August 19, 2012 in Dallas, Texas where she had moved to be closer to her son and family.
Mrs. Parker was a member of the Laurel Springs Methodist Church, Laurel Springs Rd., Marion, VA since the family first moved to Marion in 1957. She retired from the Bank of Marion where she worked for over 20 years. She was a loving wife, widowed after 56 years of marriage; a wonderful mother, and dear friend; she offered a kind word and warm smile to all who came to her window at the Bank of Marion. She was an avid golfer and member of the Holston Hills Country Club for 40 years.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Jeffery Parker; sister, Ruth McVey; brothers, Robert Owens and Jack Owens; and her daughter-in-law Mona Parker.
She is survived by one son, Joseph Parker of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Retha Ganoe of Baltimore, Maryland; two brothers, Bert Owens of Bristol, Virginia and John Owens of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Heidi Saylor married to Robert of Plano, Texas, Jason Parker married to Kimberly, and great grandson, Liam Parker of Murphy Texas.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend John Graham officiating. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus, Virginia. The family will receive friends, Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until the time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
