Obituary of Hazel Overbay

MARION, VIRGINIA: HAZEL POSTON OVERBAY, age 82, widow of James Stanley "Jimmy" Overbay, died Friday, January 26, 2007 at her home in Marion, Virginia, surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness. Hazel was born in Saltville, Virginia on May 27, 1924, a daughter of the late Floyd and Lydia Smith Poston. She was a 1942 graduate of Meadowview High School and was employed by Harwood Manufacturing, Marion, Virginia until her marriage in 1946. She was married to James S. Overbay for 58 ½ years until his death in September 2005. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Marion, Virginia. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Judie Overbay Goodman, four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her children, who were her devoted caregivers, Barbara Overbay and fiancé, Charles "Buster" Stamper, Jim Overbay and Artie Overbay, and son-in-law, Denny Goodman all of Marion, Virginia. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law, Ruth Pugh and Debbie Overbay both of Marion, Virginia and Billie Poston of Tipp City, Ohio; Four grandchildren, James Goodman and wife, Teresa, Audria Dexter, Jama Overbay and Andrea Overbay; Six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Kimberly, Cody, Caleb, Collin, and Crystal; special friends, Ruth Myers and Betty Hash both of Marion, Virginia, Teresa Phillips of Chilhowie, Virginia, and Sue Myers of Salem, Virginia and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 29, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Jeff Lambert officiating. Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery, Marion, Virginia. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
