Obituary of Sue Waddell

MARION, VIRGINIA: SUE OSBORNE WADDELL, age 68 of Marion, Virginia, died Saturday, November 12th in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Sue was born September 30, 1943 in War, West Virginia to the late Carey and Dora Osborne. She graduated from Concord College with a major in English and Elementary Education and earned a Master of Education in reading from the University of Virginia. Following her passion for teaching, she taught elementary school for thirty-six years with most of the years being at Marion Intermediate School. Sue was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa and Delta Kappa Gamma sororities and held various offices in local and state chapters. She was a long time member of Abundant Life Christian Center. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Bob J. Waddell. Sue is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Greg Martin of Rock Hill, South Carolina; one son and daughter-in-law, Robby and Angela Waddell of Lakeland, Florida; one sister, Jan Overbay of Virginia Beach, Virginia and two brothers, Garland Osborne of Pounding Mill, Virginia and Harold Osborne of Culpepper, Virginia; four granddaughters, Katie, Hannah, Rebekah and Madeline Waddell; three grandsons, Graham, William and Henry Martin and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Doug Jessee officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Virginia. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel in Marion, Virginia. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the ADK Foundation, Virginia Scholarship Fund, In Memory of Sue Waddell, 1615 West 92nd Street, Kansas City, MO 64114-3296.
