To the Grubb Family, Rick was one of my young friends that I have always remembered, It sadden's me greatly that he is gone. When I was young I always felt at home at your house, Rick was one of the hardest working people I knew and he helped establish my work ethic, I would have never made Eagle Scout without Ricky. A classmate, and good friend,and a gentleman, I will remember you forever and keep you in my prayers. I am sorry it took the SmythCountyNews 2 week to get here until I heard the news. We were all blessed to know Ricky and may God look over his Family.

My sincere sympathy on the passing of one truly nice guy.I first met "Grubby" when he was working with my friend/former classmate Jerry Anders. After that first meeting he never forgot me. He would always speak and smiled every time I saw him. Rick will be truly missed by many.

I was so saddened to hear of Rick's passing. I first met him in 7th. grade and then later we worked together at Hungry Mother State Park. He was always such a gentleman and friend. I saw him often in Food City and talked with him. I will really miss him and his sweet personality.

Our condolences go out to Rick's family. I first met Rick by helping him with his eye care needs and have known him for many years. He was such a wonderful person to know...always smiling and had a good word for everyone. Even with all his medical problems he kept a great attitude. One valentines day he brought every employee in our office a big box of candy...that was so nice and he was just being Rick. We will never forget him and will miss him very much.

I am so sorry to hear of Rick's passing. I knew him as a student and as a co-worker at MSHS. He was always so willing to help all of the teachers, particularly the ones in the gym. I thought a lot of him and respected him greatly.

We have all lost a true sweet and gentle spirit. I met Rick in the 7th. grade and have remained friends ever since. In the forty plus years I have know this wonderful friend, I have never, ever heard him say one unkind word to or about anyone! He was a true example of what we should all strive to be like. His personality and attitude was certainly more like Christ and less like the world. He will always be remembered and missed. He was truly a gentleman in every sense of the word.

I've know ol grbby all my life.....he was my father and mother's best friend all throu life mike&wanda crewey.....from the time i was born untill i was 10 or so he was always at our house and the one thin i will forever remember him by was his walk.....and how he HATED being video taped and have his photo taken!I'm gonna miss you man!love you....jessica and the whole crewey family!

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Grubby's family. We were in classes from primary through high school. I never once saw him be unkind to anyone. When he started working for Pizza Plus Jim would buy pizza each Tuesday just because it was Grubby selling them. We admired that he continued to work even with health problems. Jimmy, Bonnie, and all the Grubb family. It broke my heart to hear that Grubby had passed away. We have been friends for a long time. We were even in the same class at the Wellness Center.
