We extend our deepest sympathy to you, Waverly's family. She loved and was so proud of you. Our lives have been enriched just by knowing Waverly, and we were lucky enough to know her as a colleague, a friend, and our child's teacher. Waverly touched so many lives with her creativity, her intellect, her wit, and her caring. Even when she was sick, she could make us laugh. She was a born teacher and such a role model for us. We will miss Waverly, but we cannot think of her death as a loss, only of her life as a gain and inspiration for us all. What a wonderful legacy Waverly has left us!

Every endeavor in which Waverly was involved has suffered a terrible blow by her illness and, finally, her death. She was a fine person. I am especially sad for her grandchildren who are going to have to grow up without her marvelous example of how to live and to give. What a loss! w

From the age of 6 until I left for college your Mom was my very best friend - we spent many happy hours together - playing cowboys and indians, running snowball stands, going to the Lincoln theater, chasing boys and planning our futures. Waverly was funny, kind, always ready for an adventure and a wonderful person to be with - I know she never changed. My thoughts and love goes out to you all.

Thoughts and prayers with you all. I have very fond memories of Mrs. Moss and her amazing spirit in 5th grade - I will never forget her telling us at the beginning of the school year: "Right now, your brains are as smooth as baby bottoms...by the time I finish with you, they will be rightful wrinkled thinkers." Waverly was one of those talented individuals this community can ill afford to lose. She was the one who brought us "Annie" which was such an encouragement to the Lincoln Theatre effort. I remember how well everything came together for that production, how it brought our community together and gave us a hint of what the Lincoln could one day do for our town. She called it "A moment in time." We will miss you Waverly. Thank you for all you did for us.

From myself and the SCALE program, we offer our deepest sympathy to the Moss family. Waverly was such an inspiration to our program and gave so much of herself to this community. Her enthusiasm will continue to inspire each of us as we strive to build the program that she helped to shape. Her motto for SCALE was "neighbors helping neighbors is what it's all about," and I know that she lived her life in the same manner. Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you during this time.

I taught with Waverly at Marion Intermediate for a number of years. My daughters had her and she was such a gift to them..a warm, compassionate and caring individual who gave 110% in everything she did. She was always meant to be a teacher and was one of the best. Waverly will truly be missed by so many and no one knows the countless lives she touched. I will never forget Waverly going around with her glasses on her head and wondering where they were, or having her car keys in her hand and asking if anyone had seen them. Or standing on her desk to recite a poem to her class. Or the year she turned 50 and kept telling everyone, "You will have to figive me. I'm 50, you know." Her friends were so glad to see her turn 51 so that she wouldn't be saying that any more. She was a big kid at heart, and her enthusiasm and zest for life showed in everything she attempted. Waverly, you will be missed greatly but have left a big piece of you in our hearts.

What an amazing woman and what a phenomenal life! Praying for peace and comfort to all who loved her in the days and years ahead.

I heard about this on Facebook, and as a former student of The Wave's, my heart hurts. I live in TX now and cannot take leave to attend the memorial service, but will be praying for the family. Mrs. Moss was such a wonderful teacher with a huge heart, and personally touched and changed my life in such a way that I will never forget! Even now, a decade later, I remember that she seemed to be the one adult in my life that would NOT give up. She had a heart full of love , she never once gave up on me, and I will never forget this truly awesome and dynamic woman. Heaven is richer and the world is a bit poorer tonight. The Original changed my life and will be very, very missed.I can only hope my own children have a teacher who cares half as much as Mrs. Moss did about her students. Jackie (Billings) Hall

Dear Family members, We were distressed to hear of Waverly's passing. I (Hope) taught with her for years, too numerous to count, at MIS. She was a caring, vivacious teacher who never ceased to bring a smile from the day we first met on the steps of the school. That's a day I won't forget. Neither will I forget her birthday when she told me a 14-year-old girl was locked inside of that 50-year-old body! I will always appreciate her giving many of our students and faculty the opportunity to bring many children's books to life through her effortless and patient direction. She provided us with many amazing memories. She was a good friend and a delight to know and love. She will be remembered and missed by many. It is our prayer that Waverly's Lord will keep you and comfort you through His loving presence.
