Obituary of Johnathan Broady

MARION, VIRGINIA: JOHNATHAN (JOHNNY) WAYNE BROADY, passed away on June 14, 2011, in Richland, Washington. He was born March 16, 1950, in Marion, Virginia; the youngest of three children born to Arthur T. Broady, Sr. and Anne G. (Goble) Broady. He graduated from Marion Senior High School in 1968 and then from Washington County Technical School in Abingdon, Virginia as a master diesel mechanic. He subsequently worked for Lemons Transport Services as a mechanic in Marion and later was employed by Mason Dixon Trucking Company in Nashville, Tennessee where he worked both as a mechanic and truck driver. In 1974 he relocated to Anchorage, Alaska, and was employed at Prudhoe Bay also known as the North Slope, the largest oilfield in North America near the Arctic Ocean. He later worked for Cummins in Anchorage. In 1978 he followed his brother from Anchorage, Alaska, to Pasco, Washington, for a short stay before returning to his home in Marion, Virginia, where he resided until returning to the Washington State in 1984. He was employed for a period at Boise Cascade in Wallula, Washington. Johnny was an enthusiastic collector of various items including pen knives, rare guns, baseball and football cards, and rare coins, to mention a few collections, during his adult life. This enthusiasm for collecting often included a passion to become extremely knowledgeable of the collected items he took interest in. He was respected among other collectors for knowing the history and background of the items he collected. He also had the unusual ability to learn something new and challenging while collecting and once learned, he moved on to collecting something else. He was a baseball and football enthusiast and enjoyed watching the Seattle Mariners and Seattle Seahawks. He made friends easily and once a friend, always a friend. His family and friends will truly miss him. He is survived by his mother Anne of Kennewick, Washington; his son, Johnathan of Pullman, Washington; his daughter, Racquel Davis of La Vergne, Tennessee; his sister, Patricia Wright (James) of Pasco, Washington; and his brother, Art (Scrapper) Broady of Kennewick, Washington; as well as numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father Arthur T. Broady, Sr. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Marion. A Private Burial will be held in Round Hill Cemetery. Johnny requested there be no flowers but memorial donations may be made to the Desert Spring Covenant Church Youth Services Program at 9915 W.
