Obituary of Joseph Pennington

TROUTDALE, VIRGINIA: JOSEPH HERBERT PENNINGTON, age 91, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at his home in Troutdale, Virginia. Mr. Pennington was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served in World War II as a medic and cook in North Africa, Italy and the island of Sicily. He was a lifetime member of the Marion VFW Post #4667. Mr. Pennington was a member of the Troutdale Baptist Church and was a wonderful husband. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathleen Hall Pennington; one son, Samuel Joseph Pennington and wife, Melissa, all of Troutdale, Virginia; a twin sister, Mary P. Condron of Norwich, Vermont; sisters-in-law, Lenora Pennington of Marion, Virginia, Hallie Levins of Florida, Hazel Folden and husband, Donald of Roanoke, Virginia, Joanne Huffman and husband, David, Emma Huffman and husband Gary all of North Carolina, Margaret Helen Hall and Geraldeen Hall, both of Atkins, Virginia; brothers-in-law, Cecil Hall and wife, Revonda of Marion, Virginia, Perry A. Hall of Atkins, Virginia and Donald McKay of Rural Retreat, Virginia; special cousin, Patsy B. Kerch of Troutdale, Virginia; special niece, Kathy Boardwine of Atkins, Virginia; and special nephew, Larry Pennington and wife, Carolyn of Crystal View, Florida. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Ken Riggins and Mr. Perry Hall officiating. Graveside Services will be held Sunday, May 15, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Troutdale Cemetery in Grayson County with Military Rites conducted by Marion VFW Post #4667. The family will receive friends Saturday evening at Seaver-Brown Chapel from 6:00 p.m. until the time of service. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.seaverbrown.com.
