Lisa & family, We will miss seeing Dave at Wayne's shop. He made us laugh too many times to count with the great imitations and stories he told. I never knew what a talented guitar player he was until I saw some YouTube footage of him with Stevie Barr a few months ago. He liked my lemon pinwheel cake and was a very gracious fellow. Please accept our deepest sympathies in your loss. So sorry that bad weather prevented us from attending the funeral services.

Lacy, Lisa and Samantha, Dave loved each of you in his own special way. You were so lucky to be part of his life. Don’t look at death as an ending, but as a new beginning. When his body wore out, our Creator saw fit to relieve him of his suffering and to take him home. I wish all of you the best as you go though these next few days and weeks of pain. They will be hard, but just remember you have lots of friends and family out here to lean on. If Sandy or I can help you in any way, just let us know. God bless.

Dave Neal was by far one of the best musicians I ever played with. I learned so much from him over the 40+ years I knew him. He coined the phrase "Peripheral Awareness" that sums up the almost physic ability of some musicians to play together; he was a master of it. He was not only a great musician, but one of the best comedians around. He could keep you laughing for hours. On top of that, he was such a great friend and one of the most knowledgeable people around when it came to guitars and other stringed instruments. His rhythm playing was unmatched. I’ll never forget all the Ellis stories and the imitations Dave could do. I’m sure Wayne Henderson’s Guitar will be drastically different without his “Abrasion Engineer”. Yesterday was truly the day the music died.
