Obituary of Lucy Barrett
MARION, VIRGINIA: LUCY ORR BARRETT, age 96, widow of Oscar L. Barrett, died Friday, January 28, 2011 at The Woodview, South Boston, Virginia.
Mrs. Barrett had been an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Marion, Virginia. She was a retired Smyth County school teacher and thoroughly enjoyed being involved with the Rebekah Lodge and the Marion Garden Club. She was also a member of the Mountain Empire C. B. Club, Marion Civitan Club, and she continued to bowl with the 55 Club Bowling Team until age 94.
She is survived by one daughter, Lynn Barrett Turner and husband Ray of Halifax, Virginia; one sister, Katherine Trail of Marion, Virginia; two grandchildren, Kimberly Turner Burnett and husband Douglas and Philip Turner and wife Wendy; two great-grandchildren, Ryan Burnett and Eric Burnett.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Reverend Jonathan Jonas officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
