Obituary of Violet Blevins

VIOLET DANCY BLEVINS, age 82, of Marion, died Friday at Francis Marion Manor. She was a Nurse at Smyth County Community Hospital and Eller, Patterson & Walker Physicians for many years. Violet was a member of Hopkins View Primitive Baptist Church and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Preceding her in death was her husband, Elder Ben H. Blevins and granddaughter, Julie Blevins Whitt. Survivors include her sons, Larry and wife, Frankie, Don and wife, Pat , Alan and wife, Debbie and Greg and wife, Kim Blevins all of Marion, Virginia; one brother: Blaine J. Dancy and wife Olievene of Marion; two sisters: June Evans and husband Louis of Marion and JoAnn Branch of Mt. Airy, NC; eight grandchildren: Jill Tanner and husband Russ of Roanoke, VA, Joel Blevins and wife Amanda of Rural Retreat, VA, Ben Blevins and wife Amy, Jordon Blevins, Zachary Blevins, Andy Blevins, Lynsey Blevins and John Blevins all of Marion; and seven great-grandchildren. A special family friend and caregiver also survives: Shelia Russell. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 20, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Elder Danny Smith and Elder Eddie Lyle officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Graveside Service will be Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at Thomas Cemetery, Marion, Virginia with Elder Kenneth Presnell officiating. The family wishes to thank Shelia Russell and the staff of Francis Marion Manor for the care she received and the kindness shown to our mother.
