Dear Matt, Zach, and Ann: I remember Sam Hambrick so fondly. He was my first brother-in-law and as such will always hold a special place in my heart. He was a wonderful friend to me and Dean, welcoming our family into your Chilhowie and then Marion home numerous times especially during the summer when the kids were all young. My daughter Laura will always remember Uncle Sam as her special uncle. Though years have melted away and changes in relationships took place, nothing will erase my treasured memories of your Dad. My thoughts and prayers are with you all as you adjust to this sudden and sad loss. Aunt Joy

Mr. Hambrick was first my principal at Oak Point School in Adwolfe. Almost twenty-five years later he would become the first principal I worked for as a teacher. He was always an encouraging and enthusiastic supervisor. Both my children had the privilege of having Mr. Hambrick as their first principal. Tanner learned very quickly that if he got into trouble and was sent to the office all he had to do was ask Mr. Hambrick if he had caught any fish lately. Tanner would leave the office half an hour later with a big fish tale and a quick reminder to behave. We will surely miss our dear Mr. Hambrick. Our sincerest condolences go out to Cathy and the family.

I am so shocked and saddened to learn of Mr. Hambrick's sudden passing. We first met while he was the principal at Sugar Grove School. My job required me to visit the school monthly and he was always kind and gracious. I have a nice memory of him trying to give me directions - very patiently - to Mt. Rogers School on Whitetop Mountain when I had no idea where I was going! I will miss seeing his friendly smile at church. My deepest condolences to the entire family.
