Obituary of Clora Robinette
ATKINS, VIRGINIA: CLORA DESSER OVERBAY ROBINETTE, age 94, went to heaven on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 in Tucson, Arizona surrounded by her family. She was born April 28, 1916 in Atkins, Virginia to June and Callie Overbay. She grew up in Atkins where she met and married Clyde Robinette in December 1943. She spent 92 years in Atkins before relocating to Tucson, Arizona to reside with her daughter after her health failed.
In Atkins, she was a longtime member of the Atkins Church of God and was involved in many church activities. She also loved to garden, sew, crochet and spend time with her grandson, family and friends. She will be missed greatly by her family and everyone who knew her.
Mrs. Robinette was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde S. Robinette, parents, June and Callie Overbay, brother Claude Overbay, and two sisters, Leler Patterson and Julie Erwood.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Jerry Colburn; one grandson, Andrew Deihl III, all of Tucson, Arizona; one sister-in-law, Edith Robinette of Atkins, Virginia; one brother-in-law, Jack Erwood of Tennessee and Florida; and several nieces and nephews and a very special dog, Pounder.
A service will be held Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 2: 00 p.m. at the First Church of God in Atkins, Virginia with Reverend Nouhad Melki officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
