Obituary of Charmie Bear

MARION, VIRGINIA: CHARMIE GOODMAN BEAR, age 91, died Wednesday, June 9, 2010. Mrs. Bear was a member of the Davis Memorial United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a former employee of the Smyth County School Board. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, David F. Bear; her father and mother, Frank and Lizzie Goodman; a brother, Tom Goodman; and a son-in-law, Eddie Hanshew. Mrs. Bear is survived by four children, Betty B. Kirk and husband Sonny of Atkins, Virginia, David F. "Jim" Bear, Jr. and wife Betty of Rural Retreat, Virginia, Debby B. Hanshew of Atkins, Virginia, and Pat B. Huber and husband Peter of Pulaski, Virginia; "adopted daughter" Monica Hansen and husband Bill of Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Leigh Hess and husband Eddie, Ann Nairn and husband Todd, Mary Beth Carter and husband Ronnie, Stephen Bear and wife Julie, Joanne Thiessen and husband Eric, James Bear and wife Amy, Jeff Hanshew and wife Tina, Matt Hanshew and wife Amanda; fourteen great-grandchildren; a special friend, Mrs. Sadie Repass; and a special caregiver, Mrs. Mae Dillman. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 12, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend William Schoeneman, Jr. and Dr. Brian Burch officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Marion, Virginia. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
