Obituary of John Woods

JOHN HENRY WOODS, age 65, died Sunday, April 11, 2010 in Marion, Virginia. He was born April 11, 1945 to the late Effie and Wes Woods. John was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother and friend. He loved his family, friends and dog, Toby with all of his heart. He loved hunting and fishing and will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents, Effie and Wes Woods; sister, Judy Jonas; and brother, Harold Woods. John is survived by two daughters, Lisa Ball of Sugar Grove, Virginia and Melinda Smith and husband, Bill of Flatridge, Virginia; two sisters, Peggy Emerson and husband, Jerry of Sugar Grove, Virginia and June Aker of Marion, Virginia; three brothers, Jack Woods, Joe Woods and George (Sput) Woods all of Sugar Grove, Virginia; three grandchildren, Ashley Ashlin and husband, Davey of Sugar Grove, Virginia, Brittany Ball of Troutdale, Virginia and Allison Smith of Flatridge, Virginia; four great-grandchildren, Dalton Edwards and Isaac Edwards both of Flatridge, Virginia, Jacob Spain of Marion, Virginia and Madison Ashlin of Sugar Grove, Virginia; special friend, David Earnest of Sugar Grove, Virginia; many nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Pugh Cemetery, Teas, Virginia with Reverend Donald Medley officiating. Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Brookside Baptist Church, Sugar Grove, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sugar Grove Fire Department/Life Saving Crew, P.O. Box 257, Sugar Grove, Virginia 24375.
