I remember Uncle Berley fondly. He was kind and thoughtful. When my father, Berley's older brother Lawrence, passed way in 1993, Uncle Berley told me some wonderful stories about my father, stories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I'm so sorry I didn't stay in touch. My prayers to the family.

Some of my earliest and favorite childhood memories were at Grandpaw's house. When I was just a little girl, he planted me my very own blueberry bush for me to tend every time we came to visit. It was our ritual to go see what was on there shortly after my arrival. I still remember walks through the berry groves and running from bees that swarmed the apple trees. I remember discovering lightening bugs for the first time in the front yard. Stringing beans never seemed like work with him even though it was. Grandpaw's place was always a wonderful adventure. His life is proof that great success can be found in simplicity. He worked hard, loved Jesus and loved his family. I am so blessed and honored to have such a wonderful heritage to share with my children.

Uncle Berley always had a chaw of tobacco and was a man of few words. I remember he picked me up from elementary school one day when I was sick. Mom and Dad were not able to come. He was off and he picked me up in his Studebaker. I am sure he did not appreciate me getting sick in the front seat. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I am sorry I am unable to attend the services.
