Obituary of Earl Gilley

CHILHOWIE, VIRGINIA: EARL GILLEY, age 89, died Monday, December 28, 2009 in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Virginia. He was a wonderful husband and loving father. He was retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation Mr. Gilley was preceded in death by his first wife, Maria Sexton Gilley, three sons and several brothers. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Gilley of Chilhowie, Virginia; two sons, Earl Gilley, Jr. of Morganton, North Carolina and Terry Gilley of Marion, Virginia; one brother, Hunter Gilley of Chilhowie, Virginia; one step-son, Robert Gross of Marion, Virginia; one step-daughter, Josephine Ashbaugh of Spring Valley, Illinois; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Joe Powers officiating. Burial will follow in South Fork Baptist Church Cemetery, Marion, Virginia. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 30, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
