I can't remember when I didn't know Ike Kirby. She was our neighbor on Dover Street; she was also one of my mother's oldest and dearest friends. Ike was a great inspiration to me in my quest to learn to sew, and she helped me in many other ways as well. I can't tell you how much she meant to us through the years. I am so sorry to hear of her death, but I know she lived a long and productive life; she will be sadly missed.

ike was a great friend to my grandmother who passed away 3 years ago mrs loetta horne. my grandmother loved her and spoke so much of her all her life.. maybe there together now sharing stories like they used to do on my grandmothers back porch about quilts and flowers and all sorts of things.. ike always put up with my grandmothers cats something a lot of her friends didn't like... may she rest in peace and i hope they are together in heaven having a great time... my families thoughts are with you... love the purkey family

Jane, I was so sorry to learn of the passing of your mother, I have such fond childhood memories of of her. I called her up a few years ago and thanked her for the many times she took us to school..I wanted her to know that her kindness has always stayed with me. Jane: I just this minute found out about Ike. She was like a second Mother to me for many years. We were each others sounding board. I so regret that I lost touch after moving but I thought of her often. I am so very sorry.
