Obituary of Edith Gillespie

MARION, VIRGINIA: EDITH E. GILLESPIE age 79, died Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at Montgomery Regional Hospital, Blacksburg, Virginia. She was a great, hardworking, kind hearted woman. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Luther Pruitt and Kenny Gillespie. She is survived by two daughters, Annie Pruitt Darnell and husband Gregory of Christiansburg, Virginia, Carolyn Pruitt Goodpasture and companion Mike Rhoten of Madison, North Carolina; two sons, Luther "L.H." Pruitt Jr. of Richmond, Virginia, Wallace "Bubby" "Bluejeans" Pruitt of Marion, Virginia; one sister, Bonnie Summerville and husband Alexander of Saltville, Virginia; one brother Elmer Myers of Ceres, Virginia; three brothers-in-law, Albert Gillespie and wife Mary, Dan Pruitt and wife Donna, Paul Pruitt and wife Mary Ann; sister-in-law, Lettie Myers; and a special friend Pat Scott, twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 2, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Ridgedale United Methodist Church in Rich Valley, with Mr. Larry Smith, and Reverend Steve Hutton officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel or at anytime at her son's home, 1537 Matson Drive, Marion, Virginia.
