Obituary of William McAllister
MARION, VIRGINIA: WILLIAM RAY McALLISTER, age 80 died Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion, Virginia.
Mr. McAllister attended VPI & was a graduate of Emory & Henry College. He was a Vocational Agriculture teacher for 17 years in Dickinson County Virginia, as well as a life long farmer. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War & was a member of the Adwolfe Freewill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Glenn & Mary Lou McAllister; one brother, Opie McAllister; and one sister Arlee Vallery.
Mr. McAllister is survived by his loving wife, Sue Parks McAllister of Marion, Virginia; one sister Helen Hall of Roanoke, Virginia; one sister-in-law, Lorraine Parks Hash of Dublin, Virginia; one brother-in-law, Roy Parks of Marion, Virginia, and several nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Funeral Chapel with Reverend Bob Surber & Doctor Jack Garland officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until time of service. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Saltville, Virginia where military rites will be conducted by Marion VFW Post #4667.
