Obituary of Margaret Greer

LEBANON, VIRGINIA: MARGARET ALLISON ESTEP GREER, 76, surrounded by angles, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, friend and companion, Bill Greer, four brothers and three sisters. Margaret was a member of the Lebanon Baptist Church. Not only was Margaret a wonderful Mother, she was their hero and one of God's most humble servants. She loved to make you laugh and could sit all day on the dock fishing. She lived the simple life. One of her favorite things to do that gave her such joy was to cook and share her foods with her family and the people she met. There were no strangers to her. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda K. (Frank) McClanahan of Elk Garden, Virginia and Bonnie J. (Howard) Finney of Lebanon, Virginia; one son, Roger G. Allen of Frenchburg, Kentucky; step-children, Robert Earl and Linda Greer, Loretta and Bill Bledsoe, Billie Sue and Thomas Miller; two sisters, Lula Mae Dotson of Paw Paw, Kentucky and Shirley Daugherty of Cocoa, Florida; two brothers, J. C. Estep of Hurley, Virginia and John Henry Estep, Jr., of Stopover, Kentucky; grandchildren, Eric Allen, Robert Todd Greer, Bridgett Shortridge, Melissa McClanahan, Allison Sparks, Traci McClanahan, Karen Allen, Steven Miller; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Dalton, Brenden, Haley, Sarah, Braden, Hayden, and Isabella; special nephew and fishing buddy, Earnest Mike Tickle; several special nieces; Connie Thompson, Bolena Coleman and Nadine Justus. Special friends, Norma Jean Addington, Lois Stacy, J. D. Jessee, Gary W. Ward and Mike Lowe. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Lebanon Baptist Church, Lebanon, Virginia with Reverend Tom Edwards and Reverend Jack Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, Virginia. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Lebanon Baptist Church.
