Obituary of Mamie Sawyers

MARION, VIRGINIA: MAMIE POWERS SAWYERS, age 88, widow of Harvey L. Sawyers, died Friday, April 17, 2009 in Smyth County Community Hospital. She is survived by two sons, Howard Cole of Smithfield, Virginia and Clayton Cole of Surry, Virginia; two sisters, Mrs. Marie Dolinger and Mrs. Gay Doan both of Chilhowie, Virginia; one brother, Frank Powers of Chilhowie, Virginia; two grandchildren, Carrie Strickland and Jason Cole and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Neville Mozingo officiating. Private burial will be held at Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 until 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 246, Abingdon, Virginia 24212.
