Obituary of Margaret Duffy
MARION, VIRGINIA: MARGARET ELIZABETH DAVIS WHITE DUFFY, age 97, died April 29, 2009 at her home in Stoney Battery. She was born in Rich Valley, Virginia, was a student at Konnarock Training School, and later lived and worked in Washington D.C. where she was active in the Moose Lodge. Upon retirement she moved back to Virginia in 1971.
She was the daughter of the late Frank Forest and Winnie Chrismond Davis, and was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred T. White, and second husband, Raymond C. Duffy, as well as seven younger siblings.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy White Boyer of Chiefland, Florida and Rita White Dawson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 26 great-great-grandchildren, 4 nieces, 1 nephew. She will be missed by many good friends, neighbors, and care givers.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 3, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Joseph Shumate officiating. Graveside services will be held Monday, May 4, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, Virginia. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
